1975 started with Faculty of Agriculture, which was the only one of its kind in Libya, and rapidly established as one of
1985, new faculties started including the faculty of Art, Law, Economics, Science, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, Natural Resources, and Pharmacy forming Omar Al-Mukhtar University (OMU). More recently, Faculty of Medicine became a new member of OMU. OMU established a well-recognized scientific atmosphere for graduates and postgraduates by providing excellent teaching & libraries in the different disciplines, with particular excellence in Agricultural studies, and OMU laboratory is considered a reference centre in the field. Scientific collaborations with international universities is remarkable with Kertin University (Australia) & Lancaster University (U.K.). OMU publishing three journals: Al-Mukhtar Journal of Science, Al-Mukhtar Journal of Humanities & Al-Majal Journal. In addition, more than 130 books were edited by OMU staff members, and about 60.000 references are in the main library. OMU campus offers Medical service, Post Office, Bank, immigration services, & internet for staff & students. |
